Hostel Celica: Metelkova ulica 8, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia

So far I’ve never been banged up abroad before but if that’s your thing, you might just love Ljubljana’s Prison Themed Celica Hostel. If you read my ‘What I Snapped at Ljubljana’s Metelkova Mesto Arts Centre‘ you’ll recall that lovely bright pink building I saw on me Ljubljana jollies. Well, it gets even better…

Hostel Celica is a former military prison that’s been transformed into a concept hostel. Think cells with beltin’ artistic designs. I’m a quirky bird, so I’d love a night here!

It’s had a lick of paint down its corridors but it still feels prison like. I’m getting Prisoner Cell Block H vibes from that pic above. When you book a room, it’s of course an old cell complete with bars across its doors. From browsing their Insta, the majority of rooms have been completely transformed with artsy decor. It’s worlds away from how it was.

Would I have to sleep with a light on if staying there? Most probably, as I’ve watched way too much ‘Most Haunted’ during my time.

If you fancy breaking away from your cell for a bit, there’s a cool oriental themed cafe serving up an array of grub. Was sat drooling over their pics of burgers for a bit, if I’m honest.

It is an arts hostel after all, so they also have an events calendar packed to the rim with artistic pursuits. I’m gonna say subject to Rona restrictions at the moment.

If you’ve into not being a selfish arsehole and helping to save the world, you’ll be happy to hear that Hostel Celica is also the world’s 1st Eco certified hostel. This place is genuinely right up my street, and I can’t believe I missed out on staying there!

Their beer garden is also a work of art. I wouldn’t say no to necking a few Slovenian healing liqueurs on one of them deck chairs. Deck chair and not hammock as I’m scarred by too many past drunken falls.

If you’re fancying a prison break, head over to Hostel Celica’s website here to book a room when available.

Am always looking for creative tips, so if you’ve spotted a concept that I’d love suggest away in me comments, cock.
