As me title suggests, today am all about creative vending machines! More and more vending machines have been popping up all over the place to help boost contactless purchases during these Rona times. Great idea, innit. These days, companies are flogging just around anything in the vendors, which got me searching for ones that I wouldn’t mind popping up close to my home. Here’s what I’ve found.
It’s a right bugger when you run out of a loaf these days. I want to minimise the amount of times that I go into public shops, so a vending machine like this one in Vienna, plopped on the corner of me street would please me no end. Also, a little tip for you, never tell a German or Austrian that other countries make great brown bread too. I promise you, it won’t end well.
2)Italy’s Prosecco Region: Prosecco!!
The Italian Prosecco region is of course on my bucketlist for one day, and all the more so now that I’ve spotted that it has random Prosecco vending machines dotted around the place. I also wouldn’t say no to one of these on my local high-street but realistically, it’d have to be indoors and chained down where I live.
A similar dream to the Italian Prosecco one is vending machines filled to the brim with wine! Beltin’ idea. This one lives at the Vagabond Wine Bar in London. Its Victoria location has the choice of 140 wines by the glass from self-service vending machines throughout the bar. You top up a card, then go wine tasting around the vendors. Vagabond now has several bars and vending machines dotted around London. I need to go and try this out as soon as possible.
Remember at the beginning of the pandemic when all of the silly fuckers were panic buying milk and the supermarkets were then having to ration? Well, what we needed were local sodding milk vending machines in our towns, which could have been filled by local farms. I’m also assuming that lots of milk might be going to waste now due to cafes etc being closed and not needing it. Way forward? Milk machines around our streets! It’s a nice dream anyway, and this farm in Dorchester is already ahead of the game. They also have cheese, and egg vending machines!
5)London: Face Masks
No doubt you’ve spotted face mask vending machines where you live too, but I love this one based in London as it has a nice range of designs. I’ve not checked the safety level of their masks yet but what I do is wear one of the approved German FFP2 ones, but with a fabric one over the top to stop it from getting wet. Well, am I balls taking any chances!
What’s the best thing you’ve seen in a vending machine? Tell me in the comments, love.
